Eternal Summer – Impression of Cambridge 盛夏光年 - 印象康桥

A Bullseye Financial and New Vision International Group co-hosted event, took place on Saturday, 30^th July in Cambridge.  Celebrating together with our honored clients, business partners, families, and friends, we spent a beautiful afternoon under the sun with cheerful tunes from the string quartet and children chasing after floating bubbles on the Fellows Lawns of Sidney Sussex College. 

A truly authentic Cambridge experience, our garden party was followed by our guests embarking on a guided punting tour along the River Cam.  Navigating the busy waterways of Cambridge, our guests cruised past the scenic colleges include the Gothic splendor of King’s College Chapel, the classic elegance of the Wren Library, while passing under the wooden Mathematical Bridge and the beautiful Bridge of Sighs at St John's College.

The light summer shower couldn’t damper the party spirit as guests prepared for the main event of the day, a long-standing traditional Formal Dining at the University of Cambridge.  Retaining a classic historic feel with its traditional wooden paneling and stained-glass windows, the Sidney Sussex Old Library hosted our guests to an elegant 3-course dinner by candlelight in the splendid dining hall. 

Dinner service officially commenced following a Latin Poem reading and as the rings of the dinner bell echoed.  The rest of the lovely evening was spent merrily over delicious food, beautiful wines, engaging conversations amongst laughter and cheers.

Honored Guest – Dr. Chao-Lun Lin

It was truly a great honor for Dr. Chao-Lun Lin to accept our invitation to the festivities.  Over the formal dinner, we were delighted to welcome Dr. Lin in sharing some of his anecdotes collected over his extensive and distinguish interpreting career.

Dr. Chao-Lun Lin's experience spans all levels of the UK-China relationship, from government, business, and academia for over 20 years.  In recognition of his outstanding contribution to UK-China relations, Dr. Lin was awarded an OBE by the Queen in 2011, the first mainland Chinese to receive the Order.  He has interpreted for the Queen seven times and for six successive British Prime Ministers and has a unique perspective in advising clients in both the government and private sectors.

 

Dr. Lam has studied cross-language and cross-cultural communication for many years and has given numerous business seminars on Sino-British culture.  He is a Fellow of the UK-China Business Association, a Professor of Practice at Durham University, an Honorary Professor at the University of International Business and Economics, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, and an Advisor to the International Division of the British Horse Racing Industry Association.   He founded KL Communications Ltd, the UK's leading provider of Chinese language services for China relations.
