Sailing Together: A Team Experience in Cowes
In August, Bullseye Financial organized a two-day sailing trip in Cowes, Isle of Wight - a chance to get the team away from the usual work routines and build up the bond.
Located at the mouth of the River Medina on the Isle of Wight’s northern shore, Cowes is recognised worldwide as a centre for sailing and yachting.
It is also home to Cowes Week, one of the oldest and most prestigious regattas in the world. Just a week after this year’s Cowes Week concluded, our team arrived in the town to experience its vibrant atmosphere.
Beyond its sailing credentials, Cowes is a seaside town where time seems to slow. White sails against deep‑blue water are an unfailing palette; cafés along the harbour carry the aroma of freshly baked bread.

At dusk, the orange on the horizon fades to navy as harbour lights come on one by one. In pubs and restaurants, conversations revolve around the day’s sunshine and swell.
From Office to Seashore
From the first moment on deck, the sea breeze and open horizon brought energy and focus. Over two days, we learned the basics of sailing - from tacking and steering to trimming sails and reading the wind.
While the first day felt like adjusting to a new workflow, by the second we were working smoothly together, even closing with a light‑hearted race in two groups.
Joyful Evenings

After time on the water, evenings were spent onshore. Back at our accommodation, some of us lit the barbecue while others prepared fresh seafood and set the table.
Laughter, conversation, and shared meals helped us build bonds that go beyond the office.

Further Journey
This experience reinforced that effective teamwork — at sea or in business — relies on trust, clear communication, and adaptability. Just as sailing requires adjusting course with the wind, our work calls for focus and flexibility as we move forward together.
